Poem Written on a Post It (While Contemplating Barney Google & Snap Dragon)

Make it seem-
Mold it from the top down
So that it might-
So the odds are in favor-
5 on the nose-
To show

Poem written while listening to Jackie Mclean

Standing there...
She said,
"Capuchin Swing?"
I agreed.
Our shadows bopped
They wavered
They flickered
Standing there before...
Harmonic flames.

Showcase Presents: Secrets of Sinister House

This collection is my must read for this week.
This title joined other DC horror titles, like House of Mystery and House of Secrets, back in the early 70's. It was actually called The Sinister House of Secret Love for issues 1 through 4 then changed its name to the Secrets of Sinister Heart with issue 5.
Like the other anthologies the best reason to buy this is the excellent art by the likes of Tony De Zuniga, Alfredo Alcala, Nestor Redondo, Gerry Talaoc, and Alex Nino.

Andi Eigenmann finds family name a ‘disadvantage’

Andrea ‘Andi’ Eigenmann, daughter of respected actors Mark Gil and Jaclyn Jose, admits that there is a “disadvantage” in her use of the family name.

“[The name] brings a lot of pressure,” said the teen, who was introduced in 2007 via a supporting role on the hit soap, “Prinsesa ng Banyera.”

“There's too much expectation. The family name is associated with good acting genes and I worry that I might disappoint. And not only that…there are also too many Eigenmanns in showbiz today, and people might see me as something or someone not too special anymore.”

According to the 19-year-old, she actually asked her mother’s permission to use the screen name “Jose” early on.

“She almost agreed, but in the end she decided to go against it, as she thought it might inadvertently allow comparison with her—which could be disadvantageous [to me] too, given that I’m just starting out.”

After having paid her dues—and losing a bit of her baby fat—Eigenmann is now being introduced via the soap, “Agua Bendita” (Holy Water), which premieres Monday, Feb. 8 on ABS-CBN primetime.

“I waited for this for a very long time. Actually I’m surprised that [ABS-CBN] picked me but I think I’m ready. I’ll prove to them that they are right in choosing me.”

The soap is ABS-CBN’s second stab at the title after having made a version a few years back with Shaina Magdayao in the title role.

“Our take is different. For one, the previous ‘Agua,’ the one with Shaina is...shorter. It was a two-part series only. This time, we’re going to take time fleshing out each character. We will also make sure that we will be able to serve out the story really well.”

“Agua Bendita” is a story about twins, one of whom is good while the other, bad.

“The first twin will be me, as I am, flesh and blood, the other, will be… of ‘water.’ We will be using computer graphic images here,” Eigenmann explained.

As the teaser trailer showed her swimming in a skimpy bathing suit, not a few wondered if she will soon follow her mother’s ‘bold’ career trajectory.

“No,” she tersely replied but hastily added, “Honestly I don’t know…but you see, I am not thinking about that. At this point, I’d rather concentrate with the work at hand which is ‘Agua.’ If you could see a hint of sexiness in the trailer it’s, for me, it’s all just kind of suggestive. I’m still young. I’ve still a long way to go. We’ll see

Today's Vinyl on My Turntable: "Subway" by Joe Bataan

From the liner notes.

'Joe Bataan and the boys from east 98th to East 110th Street. That's right - the group that recorded the Gypsy Woman album with the two hit tunes "Gypsy Woman" and "Ordinary Guy" all live within a few blocks of each other.
All the band members, with the exception of Joe Bataan who iconically is a mixture of Philippine and Soul Brother, are of Latin descent.
In the tunes "Subway Joe", "Magic Rose", and "Special Girl" you will hear a beat comprised of soul and modern Latin which will satisfy a variety of moods and tastes.
Joe and the Latin Swingers,is a young family formed in October of 1966 by Joe himself, to which Lorenzo "Chino" Galan and Tito Ramos have contributed even more strength. Strength which will aid in the distribution of the magic sound of Joe Bataan and the boys from Soul Street.
This album is dedicated to George Pagan, The boy who sang lead latin vocal on their first album. Unfortunately George died soon after that album was recorded.

Lyrics on my mind: Hitched by The Kills

Don't you leave me here
Don't you leave me here
Get my name stitched on your lips so you won't get hitched

Get back, get by
Get a room, give me 105
Don't lie, don't care
Don't answer if you call me there

Don't you leave me here
Don't you leave me here
Get my name stitched on your lips so you won't get hitched.

Lay down by the road
Black rocks and a can of holes
Gone four, gone five
Sweating, cussing on the mean side

Don't you leave me here
Don't you leave me here
Get my name stitched on your lips so you won't get
Get my name stitched on your lips so you won't get
Hitched

Keep, keep on your mean side
Keep, keep on your mean side
Keep, keep on your mean side
Keep, keep on your mean side
Get my name stitched on your lips so you won't get
Hitched

Sit tight, getting by
Got a room, got my 10-5
Say it son, get gone
Smiling, all like a dead-eyed dog

Don't you leave me here
Don't you leave me here
Get my name stitched on your lips so you won't get
Get my name stitched on your lips so you won't get
Hitched

Get my name stitched on your lips so you won't get
Get my name stitched on your lips so you won't get
Hitched

Keep, keep on your mean side
Keep, keep on your mean side
Keep, keep on your mean side
Keep, keep on your mean side

Keep, keep on your mean side
Keep, keep on your mean side
Keep, keep on your mean side
Keep, keep on your mean side
